avoid scams Question And Answer
Avoid eBay scams!?
Anyone know of a good resource that would help me identify eBay scams. I am a beginner and really want to learn the ins and outs before I get my feet wet. Something free is preferable.

A good resource is looking at a seller's rating, indicated and revealed by stars and the % positive/negativ known as "feedback."
Generally, I tend to avoid seller's who have made 10 or less transactions with other EBAY users, particularly if the seller has a very bad % rating.
Look for sellers that have high amounts of feedback and an exceptionally good %. (Generally 95%+ is very good). You can view a sellers feedback page by clicking on the feedback link supported by Ebay.
Most people are generally honest with transactions, although I encountered an incident where my name and confidential information was compromised by a false user. Just play it safe and you'll be fine.
rating is everything if the person has over 10 sells for different buyers and has 99.0% - 100% hes good. Do not buy from a new seller and dont buy from some one with a rating under 96.00%
Stick with Power Sellers until you learn the ropes.
ADVICE: Do NOT buy from Ebay. I purchased a $450 treadmill from Ebay and found out that it was a scam and he didn't actually have the treadmill. I reported this but all they could do was delete his account. how dam stupid is that!!! He has my $450 and can make a new account!!! DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

read their feedback and don't be afraid to email some people who left feedback, established people are the best to buy from
Well if you do consider buying something
Ebay For Dummies is definetly a good book to get. You can purchase it on amazon.com
Hello.
Most of the sellers you will run into on eBay are good people. Do a search on "avoid ebay scams". You will see a lot of sites that give you good advice.
Watch the sellers feedback and scores. That will help you. If you see a lot of Mutaly withdrawn, watch out. Something may be going on.
If you're not sure about someone, contact them and ask questions. Most good sellers will answer your questions and try to work with you. If you don't hear anything from them, you should probably pass them by.
Good luck to you and happy eBay-ing,
Robbie
PS. Being a Powerseller doesn't always mean they are the best to deal with, it just means they make a lot of sales. Some one who sells a couple of high priced items can make powerseller. Don't count out the other people. Many of them are people just like you. Robbie
