The appraised value is what you would insure it for, and is usually more than the selling price.
If they're really valuable, try going through an auction house. They'll take a cut, but you'll get the highest price. Butterfields is good.
If not so valuable, check out auction sites to see what kind of prices similar pieces are getting.
hi you havent mentioned whether jewelry is of gold, or diamond. If its iamond forget and kind of best deals as people in the business are there to make money. Well the case is not different in gold, still i would suggest sell it through Tanishk, i believe you stay in india, they would melt and check the carat and give better deal compared to others..
