card fraud Question And Answer

Card fraud sorted but what about the goods?

In a nut shell, I was the subject of card fraud around March and an item I did not order from the internet arrived at my house the day after my bank phoned me, all was sorted by the bank but I have been left with the item, I don't want to go into much detail but its got 1 Gig of ram 9-) Its still boxed here and no one has ever come for it 9 months later, what's the legal situation, "cough" when is it mine??? Thanks gang.

It's yours, Merry christmas! Just take it and deny all knowlege
It will have been written off by the banks inssurance company, if they dont make contact within 12 months...they wont at all.
Did you inform the company? If you did and they haven't done anything about it then it's yours - enjoy. If you didn't - write to them now and then wait 6 months and then enjoy. You can't just take it without being able to show that you took reasonable steps to allow the company to retrieve their property.
The law was changed from 1 November 2000. Prior to that time, you were required to give notice to the sender, requiring them to collect the goods within 30 days, or otherwise to wait for 6 months, before being able to treat the goods as your own property. As the law stands now, you have no obligation to return unsolicited items or to pay for them and can treat them as your property on receipt. Happy computing!
Wow dude, Merry Christmas! What luck. If that were me someone would have ordered a steam iron or something lame. If you do keep it, I wouldn't call tech support about any problems though.
If you have contacted the sender and they do nothing to collect it then you can dispose of it as you wish after 6 months.
It's yours.....can I have it?? LOL! Merry Christmas!
