internet scams Question And Answer
How do you prevent Internet scams?
I have recently been scammed out of a significant amount of money from a Ghana advance fee and romance fraud operation, and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to prevent these criminals from claiming future victims? Any help will be appreciated.

Emails stating you won something for some unknown competition or raffle that you did not apply to should be avoided even though they are tempting. Anything being sold to you by email should be avoided. Dont follow any links from an email or install any programs in an email unless you know what they are. NEVER type credit card or personal information through emails because they can be intercepted.
I believe there is an internet scam protection website too but I dont know if it is international or only for the US.
The only way you can really prevent internet scams is to tell as many people about it as you can. Also, i would suggest not using personal information over the internet (especially credit card number and such) unless the website uses a secure encryption to process your information.
