The same thing happen to me, some lady who said her husband died and she needed to deposit money into my account and she would give me a couple mill's for helping her. She even gave me a picture and everything it was funny i played along, till they got mad.
I just got one about MSN running out of user ID's. They only have 500-and something left and I would be deleted if I did not respond. LOL
A few months ago someone sent me a forwarded email that turned out to be a hoax--a man was claiming to be the father of a missing child. He had a little girls pic up and gave a big sob story about the police giving up. Don't know much more than that it was fake. It really upset me that someone decided to waste everyone's time and got everyone passing it on trying to do the right thing and watching out for a child we all thought was in trouble.
When I had earthlink--i got this email from a hijacked earthlink site saying "we need your credit card information to continue service blaa blaa blaa." It looked soooooooo real. I didn't bite, but I am sure many earthlink users did. The whole concept of hijacking valid stuff--sort of terrorism online.
- Emails that say someone is sick and there will be a donation to her medical fund each time the email is forwarded. - Emails from the "Yahoo! Lottery" where you have won a prize sum but have to upgrade your service first (sometimes sending payment through e-gold of all things). - Messages saying that Yahoo! will shut down if you don't forward the message. There are a lot of other ones, too. Snopes.com covers a lot of them: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/inboxer.asp
