mail scams Question And Answer
I've been getting alot of get rich e-mails thru yahoo where someone has died and the bank doesn't want the gov. to get the money so they will make you next of kin and give you a profit of the prociedes, i have checked acouple of them out wondering if there straight but they always end up that you have to pay them alot of money before you can recieve the funds, this is wrong and i believe they have made alot of people by getting there money and moving on to the next person to rip them off so please if any one can help me find out who to contact i will try to put a stop to the ones i have delt with.
I keep getting e-mails from the UK informing me of lottery winnings I know its a scam I'd like to forward it to the proper authorities so someone uninformed doesn't fall into their trap who do I forward them to?
I just recieved a letter in the maail with a CHECK for $4000 and the letter told me I had just WON the CANADIAN lottery and the check was to help pay for NON RESIDENT GOVERNMENT TAXES...is this a SCAM?
Fake Company Checks - Lottery Scams - You have one Millions - More. It seems our Government/State officials are not doing much about this. Why and What Should/CAN we do about it?
i have a car for sale and some one is using a yahoo e mail address to scam people out of money, they say they are going to buy your car that is for sale and then they send you a check for over the amount you are asking. they then want you to send $ back to them, but before i sent the $ I had my bank look at the check and they said it was a fake. they were using two yahoo e-mail address to try to pull off this scam, one was they buyer and the other was the car shipper who was supposed to get the extra $ from the check they sent. Today I got two more e-mails with the same scam but different e-mail address. Where do I report these e-mail address to?
So I have had the same email address since I was 15 and needless to say I get a great deal of bulk mail, so a couple weeks ago i had the stupid bright idea to start unsubcribing from some of my bulk mailers, just a few a day, with the hope of someday eliminating this annoying mystery mail that who knows how or when i enlisted for.
Now, since I started i am getting a variety of very odd mailers on my regualar mail folder, most appear to be normal ad spam for obscure internet services and companies as well as those spam emails that just have a long list of addresses similar to mine in the to list.
The really creepy ones (and excuse me for being a dork and not knowing what they are) are the one's with only my email listed and some weird illiterate 1 or 2 line text and possibly a link (I don't know I've never clicked anything but delete or SPAM) and these ones don't even have an unsubcribe. What did I get myself into (probably in my teenage years)?
MY MAIN QUESTION HERE IS: Could these bulk spammers be taking my email address from the unsubscribe page and adding it to new lists, because it was after i started trying to unsubcribe that I started getting these mystery INBOX mailers.
Oh (sadface) I really don't want to ditch this email as my main, I guess I will just have to deal with my (8 years worth of)stupid mistakes
For example, could we trap them by pretending to be a "victim", setting up a faux money transfer through Western Union, and then the Nigerian gets arrested when he/she arrives at Western Union to collect wired money using a special MTCN number to alert authorities?
There really isn't much the U.S. authorities can do to combat these crimes since most of the scammers are in foreign countries (e.g. Nigeria). But, why can't we collaborate with a worldwide company such as Western Union?
I must get 20-50 per day!!!! That is just crazy! Saying I won the british lottery or that some person I never heard of left me like 200 million dollars....yeah right!
Anyway, I thougt there might be a government agency that delas with these criminals....like maybe a site or address that I could just forward these to where they could maybe bust some of these guys (or girls, to be PC). I never hear of too many people getting busted for running these operations....i with they would, they drive me nuts!
I'm thinking maybe I should boycott Yahoo?
you know the ones that promise you millions and all they do is empty your bank account.
I know i am ,the amount of emails about my account. from banks i've never HEARD of!! let alone have an account with?! lol
These e-mails are coming from various people and companies and are asking for personal information so that funds can be transferred or checks can be sent.
"I am the king of bunga-bunga and due to a revolt, I must store away 100 million dollars, but I must use YOUR bank account. Please send me your bank account details, and I will let you keep a million."
Bring out the idiots. They get what they deserve if they fall for this.
I have gotten quite a lot of these e-mails in the past and I must say, they are really irritating. Did anyone ever respond to them? Maybe for a joke...
These E-Mails come from Nigeria,Africa,Japan, and other parts of the world.
Are these lotteries legitimate from the UK ?
I get four to six a week that say I am a winner of large amounts
of money and I did not enter any drawings that I know of.
These things are becoming way too frequent, and I'd really like to start ratting these fools out. I know it won't slow down the flow of junk mail into my box, I'm just worried about other people falling for these schemes.
I hate these crooks and I wish I knew how these jerks got my e-mail. Any suggestions please help.
I got a e-mail from Yahoo mail saying I won 800 thousand dollars in Yahoo mail monthly lottery, it looked pretty good and authentic until I got down to the bottom and then that same old Keep this a secret, contact our office in Nigeria, crap. Is it legal for them to use the Yahoo logo like this? How can this be reported and forwarded to Yahoo? Does Yahoo do anything about this kind of fraud using their Yahoo Logo? I've received a lot of these kinds of e-mails but this is the first one to look authentic like it is actually from Yahoo.
Most people with email get these claims that help is needed to move money out of some bank in another country, usually Africa.
The scams must work at times or they would not be doing it.
We know that insurance companies and large corporations scam the public here in America. I guess the Africans don't know how to scam on a much larger scale like George Bush and the weapons manufactures starting wars based on lies or the insurance companies that will not pay for the houses burned in California. Those people were led to believe that they had enough fire insurance to rebuild their homes. Are not the above all examples of scams?
mr Clive Garry-email infoatclaims office@yahoo.co.uk---tel+44-704-570-2649. This e-mail comes with delphi in the address as a way to make you open it--Beware all--they claim you were enrolled through a listing of unions and businesses. The Irish Lottery--47 Meadow Vale, Sligo Ireland--
I have some major issues with my own father and he was the one of the reasons why I moved out of the house. I moved out three months ago to help out with my grandparents while my granny is in the nursing home, hopeful be out sometimes this month. How can I convince my own father who does not believe the e-mails that he recieve are scams and he gave out infos out to them as well. He is on home care from Hospic. Are there any way I can get some information on how to clear his name or is it too late for me to do anything. My father and I got into agruements alot about it and he isn't not all there. All he thinking about is money, money and money and I told him that there no one gonna give him money from another country or so whatever. He put my mom and myself under a lot of pressure. I had to lied to him that i sent the check over to them but the truth is that i burned the check and lied to him that I had sent it. He knew that we don't have that kind of money that they wanted. Thanks.
The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number).
DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize . If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk
or your local trading standards office.
I was talking with a lady from yahoo personals and she stated she was from Bozeman, MT. 2 e-mails later she was stuck in Nigeria and needs $870 dollars to get back to the states. She said that the embassy will not help her and the hotel manager will not let her leave. Sounds like one of those Nigerian scams to me.
I received an odd e-mail offering hugh somes of money for doing nothing...so I did some research and it comes up a "419 scam e-mail. I dumped it..but wonder what this is all about. Anybody been screwed by replying or have any knowlege of what these are?

No charge. The board is new. I am getting about one e-mail scam everyother day. Board is at the bottom of the first page
What is the best way to detect a dating mail scam? After 8 mails back and forth with this woman from Russia, she was suppose to come to the states for work and traveling in general, now she says she is in Moscow and does not have enough money to finish her trip. She asked for 1000 dollars, and I'm refusing to send it, how can I find out who is behind this obvious scam to report them?
There are several different mail scams going out telling people that they have won big prizes and asking for what they call recovery fees. Even though these are small amounts compaired to what you are supposed to win when a person is having hard times making ends met they try and scrach together this fee in hopes of a better life. when in fact they are making these scamers rich. Please people would you start to write to your congress man/woman and ask that there be stricter laws passed to put a stop to such trash. Lets try and help these people who fall for this and not try to put them dowm. God bless all who have the good sence to stand for what is right and help to fight craime and scum.
I've been receiving a lot of e-mail scams involving a lot of money. I keep deleting. But they keep sending more, even from different e-mail address and banks. What else can I do to be rid of them?
