mail scams Question And Answer

Is this another one of those Nigerian E-mail scams now using Yahoo Mail ID?

I got a e-mail from Yahoo mail saying I won 800 thousand dollars in Yahoo mail monthly lottery, it looked pretty good and authentic until I got down to the bottom and then that same old Keep this a secret, contact our office in Nigeria, crap. Is it legal for them to use the Yahoo logo like this? How can this be reported and forwarded to Yahoo? Does Yahoo do anything about this kind of fraud using their Yahoo Logo? I've received a lot of these kinds of e-mails but this is the first one to look authentic like it is actually from Yahoo.

Report it as spam. Hit your spam button. And as long as you have already opened it up, reply and write these words in the reply "You have been reported to the FBI and INTERPOL"
It's not quite the same thing as a Nigerian Scam, but it IS a scam. Report it as spam, report it as abuse to the domain it came from (abuse@yahoo.com, for example). But one thing you should NOT do is reply to it!! Whoever sent you that message is an out-and-out crook and you do NOT want to give that person any inkling that your e-mail address is valid, or give them any indication that you want to enter into any ongoing correspondence with them. Tempting as it may be, don't even reply to tell them something like "Neener neener, I reported your sorry @$$ to the FBI." (Sorry Rachael, that is an extremely BAD idea.) If you want to give the crooks a bad day, turn them in to their ISP (Yahoo Mail in this case) so their account will be terminated and they'll have one less way to send out their cr@p.
