Why is it that more that half of the e-mail scams that I recieve have Yahoo email addresses?
I'm thinking maybe I should boycott Yahoo?

because they are free!
Within 5 minutes you can set up GrandLottery@yahoo.com with no validation. That is why. There is no way Yahoo could do any validation without actually sending a letter to your home address.

Just because the scams appear to be coming from Yahoo, it does not mean that they actually are. E-mail spammers and scammers have been known to forge e-mail headers, including the from: field.
If an e-mail scam appears to be coming from Yahoo, then report it and if it's actually coming from an account on their servers, they'll ban it. E-mail scams and spam are against the TOS of virtually all major internet service companies.
