phishing scams Question And Answer
Phishing scam? I rec'd an email from Yahoo? Requesting I D & Password, etc.?
They are saying I will lose my email acct. if I don't send all my info within 2 wks. Is this a legitimate request from my Yahoo? It Says:
"To prevent your account from being de-activatged automatically by Yaho!!! You will have to update it below at which we need a response from yyou within the next 72hrs. " Then they ask for me to "confirm my Account details: Yahoo! ID:.... Password... Your Birthday... Your Country..." Warning!!! Account owner that refuses to update his or her account before two weeks of receivng this warning will lose his or her account permanently." IS THIS TRUE?
Answers
Yeah, I know what it says. I got one. Lots of people got this. Yahoo WILL NEVER ask for your ID, password or any other identifying information. This is phishing or spoofing, and it probably came from your bulk mail or spam. If you want to report it to Yahoo, then please forward the email to:
mail-spoof@cc.yahoo-inc.com. If you have already been tricked into giving your password, please visit
http://security.yahoo.com/article.html?a...
and follow the instructions there. Also:

It's a scam. Yahoo knows your password already.
Yes, it is a scam, just delete any email that requests your ID or password.
This is a phishing tactic being used by cyber hackers. Yahoo will not ask you for this information, nor will it ever threaten to close your account(s) within such a small time frame. I've seen this for ebay accounts and RBC aswell, they are very sophisticated so watch out~!
